Promoting Romanian exports

Economic relations

The Romanian-Danish trade relations are carried out on the basis of the Treaty of Accession of Romania to the EU, observing the principles established by the rules of the internal market of the European Community and those of the common commercial policy of the European Union.

Evolution of Romanian-Danish trade

At 31 December 2018, the value of bilateral trade was EUR 635.48 million, of which EUR 294.20 million exports (up 12.23% as compared to 2017) and EUR 341.28 million imports (up 1.5% compared to 2017). The volume of bilateral exchanges increased by 6.22% compared to 2017.

Positive evolutions of Romanian exports were recorded in the trade of metals and metal products (especially aluminum products) and the trade of electrical machinery and equipment, while car exports remained at a high level, being further supported by the relaunch of Dacia cars on the Danish market.

The level of trade is still low compared to the potential of the two countries (for example, the record level of EUR 800 million was reached in 2013).

Danish investments in Romania

According to ONRC data, on December 31, 2018, 938 companies with Danish capital were registered in Romania with a total investment of 395 million euros (19th place among foreign investors).
