The visit of H.E. Alexandru Grădinar, Ambassador of Romania to Denmark and Iceland, in Reykjavik (17-19 June 2019)

Between 17 and 19 June 2019, H.E. Alexandru Grădinar, Ambassador of Romania in Denmark and Iceland, visited Reykjavik on the occasion of the National Day of Iceland.

The official program of the visit included the participation in the festivities marking 75 years of full Icelandic independence, as well as meetings with the President and the foreign minister of Iceland, during which the Romanian diplomat has extended warm wishes to the Icelandic people and reiterated the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries.

Wednesday, 19 June 2019, the Ambassador of Romania to Denmark and Iceland, presented the achievements of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU during a meeting of EU heads of missions to Iceland organized by the EU Delegation in Iceland. The Romanian Ambassador briefed on the milestones of the Presidency and mentioned the files Romania pushed forward, in this period, at European level. In the same time, it was underlined that the Romanian Presidency closed a record number of files (more than double than other presidencies). During the meeting, the Romanian diplomat had an exchange of views with the Icelandic minister of foreign affairs regarding the relation between Iceland and the EU, in the context of the Icelandic membership in the European Economic Area.
